Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes handling, processing, and quality control of anatomic and/or clinical specimens in a laboratory environment; viewing specimens for validity; and operating basic and complex automated laboratory instrumentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone–no substitution of education for experience is permitted. AND Selective Placement Factor: Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT), or other organization deemed comparable by the Office of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD HA) or their designee, Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM) as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MT/CLS) is required. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
