Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: Specialized Experience: Must possess one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience may include: gathering information to support the development of short- and long-range goals for the organization’s financial operating plan; participating in the administration of a small, stable budget involving basic administrative expenses; performing clearly-defined administrative tasks in support of established requirements for supplies, property management, or office moves; or providing various administrative services to enable efficient operation of a business or program office.

Education: Must possess a Masters or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field of study that is directly related to the work of the position, which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to do the work of this position. Directly related graduate study may include, but is not limited to: business administration, accounting, governmental budgeting, and/or public administration. (Two years of graduate education is 36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours).

Possess an equivalent combination of such education and experience. For example, I have six months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), and 27 semester hours or 41 quarter hours of directly-related graduate level education in an accredited educational institution (50% of the qualifying education). To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: Specialized Experience: Must possess one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience may include: providing a wide variety of administrative services to enable efficient operation of a business or program office; analyzing work functions and processes and identifying process improvements; planning and coordinating budget and financial plans and operations; or developing and formulating alternative solutions to administrative matters.

Education: Must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field of study that is directly related to the work of the position, which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to do the work of this position. Directly related graduate study may include, but is not limited to business administration, accounting, governmental budgeting, and/or public administration. (Three years of graduate education is 54 semester hours or 81 quarter hours).

Possess an equivalent combination of such education and experience. For example, I have six months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), and 45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours of directly related graduate level education in an accredited educational institution (50% of the qualifying education). Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated.
