Qualification Summary
Selective Placement Factor: Applicants must possess typing skill of at least 40 words per minute. Certification may be a certificate of proficiency dated within the past 3 years or self-certification by stating current speed on your application for employment/resume.In addition to meeting the Selective Placement Factor, applicants must have one year of specialized experience as defined below:GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service.Definition of Specialized Experience: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:GS-07: Experience serving as a secretary or principal office assistant performing the full range of secretary duties such as the following: controlling and reading all incoming correspondence, screening items to be handled personally, and forwarding the remainder for action; receiving and distributing mail, assembling background information and suspense dates before routing mail; proofreading documents for procedural and grammatical accuracy, factual correctness, and proper format; receiving and screening telephone calls and emails; maintaining a calendar and coordinating, prioritizing, and scheduling appointments and/or meetings; making extensive travel arrangements; preparing and processing time and attendance; preparing and maintaining files and tracking systems; searching for, assembling, and summarizing information as required from files and documents. These examples are not all inclusive.
Experience that would not normally be part of an applicant’s position may be creditable when documented by satisfactory evidence (e.g., a memorandum from the manager or human resources director, SF-52, or similar documentation).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
