Qualification Summary
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Some examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
1) Experience in writing a variety of articles, blogs, press releases, talking points, press guidance, and speeches to convey information and clarify programs/activities to specialized audiences and the general public;
2) Participating in campaigns to convey complex information on specific activities, achievements, and other programs;
3) Drafting/implementing communication plans and developing responses to information requests from the media and interested public in written and oral form; and
4) Establishing/maintaining working relationships with a variety of audiences (such as the media, print, and broadcast reporters, members of Congress and their staffs, and the internal/external stakeholders and clients). Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). A written test is not required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
