Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Food Service Worker without more than normal supervision. Screen Out: Having the ability to perform common duties such as cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little to no processing, to include roasting, broiling, braising, frying, boiling, grilling and steaming. I can prepare simple food items such as soups, sauces and gravies. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employees who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices Physical Effort: Performs work requiring light to moderate physical effort. Is subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted. Performs heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing large-size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Working Conditions: Works in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted but usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. Is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. Hearing protective decides and/or other protective decides and/or safety equipment must be worn during all periods of time incumbent is exposed to the hazardous condition(s).
