In order to qualify for this Computer Scientist, GS-1550-12, you must meet the BASIC Qualification Requirement *AND* meet the ADDITIONAL Qualification Requirement. BASIC Qualification Requirement for the Computer Scientist 1550 Series:
Option A: You have successfully completed a Bachelor’s or higher degree with a major in Computer Science at an accredited college or university. Note: You must submit copies of your transcripts.
Option B: You have a Bachelor’s degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science from an accredited college or university. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. Note: You must submit copies of your transcripts. ***AND*** ADDITIONAL Qualification Requirement for the GS-1550-12
You have at least one year of specialized experience performing professional computer scientific work that included (1) Developing and integrating quality software products into an operational environment; (2) Developing code, debugging and testing programs using programming languages and tools such as Sun Java, Ada, C++, Perl, Shell, Oracle, IBM Tivoli, IBM Netview, Cygwin, Tripwire, Adobe, Linux APIs, SE Linux, Linux Kernel, Apache, or Windows 2000 (APIs, IIS, WSUS); (3) Developing software performance requirements, objectives and integration; and (4) Analyzing functional requirements, change proposals, software, systems, and databases to develop or sustain applications. This specialized experience must be at least one year equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Part time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Volunteer work experience: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Applicants MUST meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
