Dharmendra’s 1970s Bollywood Songs

Today’s second topic is Actor Dharmendra’s 1970s Bollywood songs. He is called the Action King and the First He-Man of Bollywood. He was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2012, by the Government of India. A resident of Ludhiana, he completed his intermediate studies in Phagwara’s Ramgarhia College. Dharmendra saw a movie ad in Filmfare by Guru Dutt and Bimal Roy and he went all the way to Malerkotla for getting his portfolio done by Jaan Mohammad (John and Sons). He won the Filmfare contest and went to Bombay (Mumbai now) looking for work. Post his debut in Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1958), there was no looking back. The rest is History.

Dharmendra’s 1970s Bollywood Songs:

Some of my favorite 1970s Bollywood songs picturized on him are:

Dil kahe ruk jare ruk ja… Man Ki Ankhen (1970)

Jhilmil sitaronka aangan hoga… Jeevan Mrityu (1970)

Yeh dil deewana hai dil toh deewana hai… Ishq Par Zor Nahin (1970)

Rehne do gile shikwe… Rakhwala (1971)

Kaali palak teri gori… Do Chor (1972)

Rafta rafta dekho ankh meri ladi hai… Kahani Kismet Ki (1973)

Pal pal dilke paas… Blackmail (1973)

Saat ajoobe is duniya mein… Dharam Veer (1977)

Hum bewafa hargiz na the… Shalimar (1978)

Duniya mein paise bina kaise hum jiyenge… Phandebaaz (1978)

Chanda Mamase pyara mera Mama… Kartavya (1979) This song always reminds me of my beloved maternal Uncle, whom we lost to cancer. 🙁
