Qualification Summary
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that the applicant meets the specialized experience requirement – this information must be included in the resume.To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 in Federal service. Specialized experience is that which demonstrated the ability to plan and coordinate the use of land, water, and related resources for recreation and conservation purposes. For example, specialized experience at this level is defined as: managing one or more public recreation sites through a managing partnership (agreements); implementing Title 28 funding and complying with federal requirements; administration of grants/cooperative agreements, inter-agency agreements, or contracts associated with recreation sites; serving on a recreation team providing technical expertise for the development of associated National Environmental Policy Act documents and other compliance documents; managing concessions, collections, and recreation permits; dealing with complex and/or controversial problems; developing and maintaining recreation partnerships; or managing recreation program budgets.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
