Composer R D Burman’s Death Anniversary

Today is Composer R D Burman’s death anniversary. This light was snuffed off very early. Born Rahul Dev Burman in 1939, he was also called Pancham or Panchamda. He was S D Burman’s only son. During his active years (between the 1960s and 1990s), he scored music for 331 movies. Though he, mostly, composed for Bollywood movies, he had also worked for some South Indian films, as well. He has also sung for some of his compositions. His major works were with his wife, Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar, making them famous. He was inspired by several genres to compose his music. For this post, I have selected some songs he composed for Bollywood movies of the 1960s. A favorite of mine, I grew up listening to his compositions among others on Vividh Bharati Radio Channel.
