Filmmaker G P Sippy’s Death Anniversary

Yesterday was Filmmaker G P Sippy’s death anniversary. Born Gopaldas Paramanand Sipahimalani, Sippy Sahab was famous for making movies like his magnum opus Sholay (1975), Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), Shaan (1980), Saagar (1985) and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992). The movie bug bit him when he sold the construction rights of a sea-facing building in Marine Lines, Mumbai to a Muslim builder and made the movie Sazaa (1951). With Sazaa (1951), the construction magnate became an avid movie producer. Rest is history.
