BASIC REQUIREMENTS: You must have Information Technology (IT) related experience which demonstrates proficiency in each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Performing work in safeguarding information technology systems; developing and implementing security plans, policies and procedures; participating in audit reviews, vulnerability and risk assessments, security tests and evaluations, and other accreditation activities in order to ensure systems are fully accredited and comply with all applicable security standards; experience interpreting and applying IT security policies, standards and guidelines;implementing activities designed to ensure, protect, or restore Information Technology (IT) systems, services, or capabilities; monitoring systems compliance with IT security standards and regulations.

Mastery of, and skill in developing and applying IT infrastructure protection plans and the system Certification and Accreditation process necessary to authorize the operation of Federal information systems. Mastery of, and skill in applying IT security concepts, standards, and methods sufficient to perform network security, system monitoring and vulnerability assessment to meet compliance standards and lessen impacts to mission critical and business operations. Advance knowledge of NERC CIP and FISMA compliance standards as they pertain to applying cyber security control measures, methods, and techniques. Advanced knowledge of incident response techniques required to address security events. Ability to develop response plans and procedures used to identify, classify, report, and respond to security incidents. Extensive knowledge and experience with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and the mitigation activities required to ensure a secure IT infrastructure. Ability to collaborate and communicate in clear verbal and written concepts, with technical and non-technical users (including top level management) recommending course(s) of action based upon results of analyses or studies. “Experience” refers to paidandunpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
