Actor Dharmendra’s Birthday

Tomorrow is Actor Dharmendra’s birthday. Born Dharam Singh Deol, Dharmendra is not only an actor but also a Bollywood producer. Famous for his performances in movies like Sholay (1975), he received his only Filmfare Award – Lifetime Achievement – for his contribution to Bollywood (1997). Box Office India states that he is the only actor having the maximum number of hits spanning almost half a century. 2 very significant things about him that I realized are he has big palms and his emotional scenes are hilarious. And if Hema Malini is my Aunty, obviously Dharmendra is my Uncle! 🙂

Bollywood and Actor Dharmendra’s Birthday:

Here are some of my favorite Bollywood songs from the black and white era featuring Dharmendra:

Mujhko is raat ki tanhai mein… Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960)

Jeet hi lenge baazi hum tum… Shola Aur Shabnam (1961) I love this song and that is why I have placed it at the pride of place with the video.

Yahi hai tamanna… Aap Ki Parchayiyan (1964)

Tumhe dilse chaha… Chand Aur Suraj (1965)

Mujhe dard-e-dil ka pata na tha… Aakashdeep (1965)

Aapke haseen rukh pe aaj naya nor hai… Bahaaren Phir Bhi Aayegi (1966)

Ya dilki suno duniyawalon… Anupama (1966)

Ek haseen sham ko dil mera kho gaya… Dulhan Ek Raat Ki (1967)

Aaya hai mujhe phir yaad woh zalim… Devar (1966)
