Qualification Summary
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements- please be sure to include this information in your resume.
GS-04: Six months of general and 6 months of specialized work experience. Examples of general experience may include working in any professional, technical, or other responsible field that provided you with a familiarity with techniques of collecting scientific data. Examples of specialized experience may include prior specific work experience as a technician or aid in engineering, earth, physical, or natural science, forestry, soil conservation, or surveying; trades or crafts work in maintenance or construction of facilities or equipment related to hydrology; drafting and/or construction estimating; collecting, inventorying, analysis, and evaluation of surface and ground water quality and quantity (i.e., flow and transportation of sediment, nutrients, or pollutants in stream channels and ground water); planning and implementation of structural and vegetative projects to conserve, improve, or restore riparian, wetland and mesic systems and/or water quality; OR Successful completion of 2 years (90 quarter or 60 semester hours) of study above high school, that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as engineering, industrial technology, construction drafting, surveying, physical science, biology, or mathematics. OR A combination of experience and education to meet total experience.
GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 level. Examples of specialized experience may include prior specific work experience as a technician in engineering, earth, physical, or natural science, forestry, soil conservation, or surveying; trades or crafts work in maintenance or construction of facilities or equipment related to hydrology; drafting and/or construction estimating; collecting, inventorying, analysis, and evaluation of surface and ground water quality and quantity; planning and implementation of structural and vegetative projects to conserve, improve or restore riparian, wetland and mesic systems and/or water quality; OR Successful completion of one full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position; OR A combination of experience and education to meet total experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
