Qualification Summary
Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker without more than normal supervision. performing cleaning duties to include mopping, dusting, and disinfecting lavatories and perform general grounds keeping maintenance to include landscaping and snow removal. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyWork Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order) Physical Effort: Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial type buffers). Occasionally experts moderately heavy physical effort such as that required in lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50-pounds, requiring continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Requires working on ladders/scaffold in the performance of some duties. Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolds or when using heavy powered equipment. In accordance with the Delegated Examining Unit Handbook, Chapter 6-A-10, this position is restricted to preference eligibles only. Applications from non-preference eligibles will not be considered if preference eligibles are available. However, in the absence of any qualified preference eligibles, we may refer non-preference eligibles for employment consideration (5 U.S.C. 3310).
