BASIC REQUIREMENTS: The following are the basic requirements and qualifications for this position: United States Citizenship English Language Proficiency Experience: I have six months of experience that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to perform the work or provides an understanding of the work; Or Education: One year above high school that included at least 6 semester hours in health care related course such as sterile, nursing assistant, hospital corpsman, and operation groom surgical technician courses or other courses related to the position; Or Experience/Education Combination: Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the basic requirements above the following is the amount of experience required to qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level. (GS-6) I possess one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition I can demonstrate the following KSA’s: Knowledge of surgical instruments used in operating rooms and clinic settings. Knowledge of universal precautions for safety and prevention of cross contamination. Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, medical conditions and procedures. Knowledge of sterility principles in regards to instrumentation. Ability to read and interpret written instructions and procedures. References: VA Handbook 5005/76 Part II Appendix G47 Physical Demands: The work is sedentary, but may require walking, bending, standing, and /or carrying of light items such as files and manuals. The work does not require any special physical effort or ability. Work Environment: The work area is usually an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office or medical facility setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-6.
