Poet Sahir Ludhianvi’s Death Anniversary


Today is Poet Sahir Ludhianvi’s death anniversary. Born Abdul Hayee in 1921; he would have been 97 today if he had not expired in 1980. Sahir Sahab was a poet and Bollywood lyricist penning his works in Hindi as well as Urdu. His work had a good lot of impact on Indian cinema, particularly Bollywood. Taj Mahal (1963) and Kabie Kabhie (1976) got him the Filmfare Best Lyricist Awards. The Indian Postal Department honored Padma Shri Sahir Ludhyanvi’s work in 2013 with a commemorative stamp.
