Today is Singer Manna Dey’s death anniversary. Born Prabodh Chandra Dey, Singer Manna Dey is better known by his stage name. If he had not expired in 2013, he would have been almost 100 years old today. He is considered among the most versatile and celebrated singers of Bollywood. Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan recipient; Manna Dey Sir is one of the playback singers, who carried the success of Indian Classical music in Bollywood on his shoulders. He sang for the first time in Tamanna (1942) – Upar gagan bishal... Singing in major regional Indian languages, but particularly in Bollywood and Bengali; Manna Dey’s performances peaked between 1953 and 1976. He received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007.
