GS 5 – SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: MUST possess one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Voucher Examiner position. To be creditable, the experience must have been equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: examining vouchers, invoices, claims and other requests of payment and reimbursement for healthcare services delivered to patients; using office automation software/hardware to perform clerical duties associated with claims processing; and knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding (ICD; HCPCS). GS 5 – SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): MUST have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
GS 5 – COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): MUST have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and specialized experience, as described above, may be used to meet total experience requirements. GS 6 – SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: MUST possess one year (1) of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Voucher Examiner position. To be creditable, the experience must have been equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service. In addition to the experience referenced above for this grade level you may also possess the following specialized experience: knowledge of financial/accounting systems, reconciliation on accounts, and resolving issues surrounding payment and denials of healthcare claims.
