To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: : At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the Information Technology (IT) field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Specialized experience may include, but is not limited to the following examples: performing a variety of data base management activities, determining hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment necessary to accomplish unit objectives; managing the installation of automatic data processing resources to include the installation of computer hardware, local/wide area network hardware, computer and network system operating software, software upgrades and modification, major software applications, and network and data security and diagnose and resolve problems for a wide variety of applications, operating systems, and equipment. NOTE: TO QUALIFY BASED ON EXPERIENCE, you must have IT-related experience in the following four competencies. Be sure to describe your background/experience that demonstrates possession of these four competencies in your application/resume. Attention to Detail Please describe your experience showing you are able to review moderately complex data from multiple sources and determine relevant information to a given situation; and drafting, editing, and disseminating written reports and status updates that are factual, timely and relatively error free. Customer Service – Please describe your experience that demonstrates your ability to maintain relationships with customers with diverse needs; provide moderately technical or complex information about products and services; assess customers’ needs and identifying products and/or services to meet their needs; resolve fairly complex or non-routine problems, questions, or complaints; direct the most complex problems, questions or complaints to the appropriate person. Oral Communication – Please describe your experience that demonstrates your skill in communicating or explaining moderately complex ideas or information clearly in which thoughts are well organized; listening to others and recognizing potential miscommunications. Problem Solving – Please describe your experience that demonstrates your ability to use logic to identify alternatives to solve moderately difficult problems; identify and solve problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives. EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one year of specialized experience, but I possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorial such degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or I possess such a degree that included a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above that required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. You must include transcripts. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion completed one full year of specialized experience as described above or the three years of graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field directly related to the work of this position but I have an equivalent combination of such education and experience. For example, I have six months, of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours of directly related graduate level education in an accredited education institution (50% of the qualifying education). Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. For each listing of experience, you must include the month and year in which the experience began and ended (example: 3/2005 – 5/2007) and the number of hours worked per week (example: 40 hours per week) to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate the dates (month/year format) and exact number of hours worked per week. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience.
