Meena Kumari ki Amar Kahani

Today is late Actor Meena Kumari’s birthday. She would have been 86 today. Born Mahjabeen Bano, she has been given the epithet of Bollywood’s tragedy queen. She is also known as the female Guru Dutt of Bollywood and Cinderella of Indian movies. Meena Kumari was not only an actor but also a singer and a poet. She wrote under the pseudonym of Naaz. I would have loved to meet this interesting personality. But, her tragic end came in the early 1970s and I joined fulltime journalism in the 1990s. I will definitely regret not having born in the stalwart’s time.

Bachpan ki mohabbat ko… Baiju Bawra (1952)

Jyoti kalash chalke… Bhabhi Ki Chudiyan (1961)

Ruk ja raat theher ja re chanda… Dil Ek Mandir (1963)

Sheesha-e-dil itna na uchalo… Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayi (1960)

Na bole na bole na bole re… Azaad (1955)

Dil apna aur preet parayi… Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayi (1960)
