This weekend, the Broad Ripple Village Association, in partnership with The Vogue, are welcoming back the Taste of Broad Ripple. It will be the fifth year that Taste of Broad Ripple takes over the streets for a single afternoon. This all day celebration of one of the city’s most vibrant and artistic neighborhoods brings together food, music, and community.
Celebrating the Food & Drink of Bripp
Local restaurants will serve select dishes, with plenty of flowing craft beer from Broad Ripple bars to wash it down. Taste of Broad Ripple will feature over 30 of the best local food vendors in town. With that many options, you can rest assured that even the pickiest eaters will find something to enjoy.
And since this is an all ages and family-friendly event, HotBox Pizza will have a Kids’ Tasty Pizza Tent up. Just in case there are some younger, picky eaters out there who have more simple tastes.
For the older crowd, there will be a Yuengling Beer Garden pouring out fresh beer from their taps all day long. Southern Wine & Spirits will also have their own “spirit garden” set up, so if you’re looking for something a little stronger than beer, you’ll find it. Also, look out for the Vino Mobile Bar, which will also be serving libations for the adult connoisseurs of Broad Ripple.
For the Taste of Broad Ripple’s entertainment, four live bands will perform on the Main Stage with a great mix of folk rock, bluegrass, funk, and good old fashioned rock and roll. Headlining for the Taste of Broad Ripple are The Main Squeeze, a big funk band originally based out of Bloomington, IN that now tours nationally. Other performers include Big Foot Yancey, Clint Breeze & The Groove, and The Stampede String Band.
The School of Rock will also have their own stage set up in the Riley Kids’ area. There, they’ll be featuring young musicians from grade school to high school. The School of Rock stage will run from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
Along with all the food and beer you can eat and/or drink, the Taste of Broad Ripple will also have a variety of fun and interactive entertainment options available for the whole family.
For the kids, there will be bounce houses set up, as well as face painting stations, balloon artists, a stilt walker, and more. There will also be interactive inflatable games, a Colts interactive museum, and Indianapolis arts Center activities for anyone interested.
And, since this is a celebration of food, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, a tent at the Taste will feature the Chef’s Night Off Cook Off. During the event, some of the top chefs from Broad Ripple and Indy’s north side restaurants will create competitive dishes to be judged by a panel of local celebrities. If you’re a fan of shows like Chopped, you won’t want to miss this.
The Taste of Broad Ripple takes place on Broad Ripple Avenue along the strip of local restaurants and bars. The event kicks off at 3:00 pm, and will run until 10:00 pm. Tickets to the Taste of Broad Ripple are seven dollars.
