Singer Shamshad Begum’s Death Anniversary

Playback Singer Shamshad Begum expired in 2013 at the age of 94. She is one of the first playback singers of Bollywood and one of my favorite singers of her times. She is known for her different kind of voice and has sung more than 6000 songs for Hindi as well as Tamil, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali cinema. Her songs for Bollywood itself were 1237 in number. She has sung for big music directors of her times like Naushad Sahab, Burman Dada, C Ramchander and O P Nayyar Sahab. Her renditions made between the 1940s and 1970s are still popular and have been remixed often.
