This Sunday, April 15th, be sure to get out to Fountain Square before the weekend ends. More specifically, you’ll want to head in the direction of the Hi-Fi so that you can catch the show with Caroline Rose, and The Go Rounds.
Caroline Rose is an alternative, indie pop artist from New York. She recently released her sophomore album, “LONER” which marked a transition of musical styles, as well as a turning point in Rose’s personal life. “I needed to get more personal, more aggressive. more humorous and more sonically diverse than my older material”.
“LONER” opens with the piercing warbles of distorted synth on “More Of The Same”, a song which balances boredom and melancholy in the lyrics, with a whimsical hopefulness suggested in between the notes.
Listening to “LONER”, which belongs to a genre Rose coins as “schizodrift”, can be a bit disorienting. But if you like up-beat, experimental pop that keeps surprising you in the best possible ways, I’d say check out “LONER”. You can listen to it by visiting Caroline Rose’s Bandcamp.
The Go Rounds
Joining Caroline Rose at The Hi-Fi are the Go Rounds, a band that blends the genres of psychedelic rock, Americana, and pop into their own sound. The quartet from Kalamazoo released their debut, self-titled album in 2011. Since then, The Go Rounds have consistently released album after album. That was up until 2016, at least, with the release of “I Promise I Won’t Get Hurt”, their most recent album. You can listen to all of their music on Bandcamp.
The show with Caroline Rose and The Go Rounds starts at 8:30 pm on Sunday, April 15th. Doors to The Hi-Fi open at 7:30 pm. Tickets to the show are ten dollars in advance, and twelve at the door.
