This Friday, Back Alley Ballyhoo presents another night of all psychedelic acts at Square Cat Vinyl. For April, Square Cat will be featuring an art installation by Lizard Valley Cellar League, and a psychedelic light show by Magnetron. And, of course, there’ll be plenty of music, and tasty beer from Flat 12 for those old enough. But let’s not forget our lineup for the night.
The Be Colony
The Be Colony is a psych rock band from Fort Wayne, Indiana. They released their first EP “LIVE” in 2015, and two more in 2016, “Live at CS3”, and “Mystic Morning”. The Be Colony’s most recent release “Extinct EP” came out in January.
The Be Colony consists of Jacob Terhune (vocals, guitar), Atticus Sorrell (vocals, guitar), Zac Terhune (guitar, keys), Wes Johnson (bass), and Bray Coughlin (drums).
We’ve covered BYBYE more than a few times in the past year. For those unfamiliar with the band, BYBYE is an electronic, experimental soul group that formed in 2014. They recently released their first studio album, “Metamorphasize” in February. According to their website, the album included contributions from Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket, and Jared Thompson of Premium Blend.
BYBYE is Martin Green (organ, vocals), Nick Peoni (lead guitar), Sam Shafer (acoustic guitar, keys, vocals), Paul Symons (drums), and Cody Davis (bass).
Flown is, you guessed it, another psychedelic rock band. It looks like they’re a newcomer in the Indy scene, though. Their one and only release is a two-track digital album on Bandcamp called “Warp Tunnel”. Still, they’ve got a fun sound. High-energy, fast drums, and distorted guitar with lots of wah. Flown is worth checking out.
Flown consists of Corey Standifer, Brooke Rice, Jacob Kozlowski, Kelsen Hazelwood, and Nijaul Ricks. You can find Flown on Facebook.
April’s Magic Fountain show at Square Cat Vinyl will start at 8:00 pm and run until midnight. Cover is five dollars at the door, and the show is open to all ages.
