Preview: Mother Grove St. Paddy’s Day Show

For all of those die-hard fans of Irish music and culture, you won’t want to miss the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day show at Centerpoint Brewing in Indianapolis. The bands to play are Mother Grove and Fistful of Haggis. Cosmic Chrome Cafe will also be on site with traditional Irish-inspired dishes.

Mother Grove

Mother Grove is a Celtic rock band from Indianapolis that has been around for twelve years with seven albums under their belts. Their Facebook profile states that, “Mother Grove will get you up and dancing jig after jig with their unique blend of well crafted original rock music and rousing rocked up traditional songs”. If you’re into upbeat rock and pop music with a traditional Celtic twist, Mother Grove is right up your alley.

Mother Grove consists of members Brad Sprauer (vocals, guitar), Maggie Davis (fiddle, vocals), John Holland (bagpipes, pennywhistles, mandolin, vocals), Ron Fife (drums, percussion, vocals), and Jim Farley (bass). Some of their main influences are bands like the Flogging Molly, Dave Matthews, and Jethro Tull.

Fistful of Haggis

Fistful of Haggis is a loud, in your face Scottish/Celtic/Irish punk rock band. The band features two shared members of Mother Grove, Brad Sprauer, and John Holland. The other two members who make up the rest of Fistful of Haggis are Rodney Telfer and Lauren Berry.

Some of Fistful of Haggis’ main influences are Dropkick Murphys, Real McKenzies, and Flogging Molly.

The St. Patrick’s Day show with Fistful of Haggis and Mother Grove starts at 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 17th. The show will last until 10:00 pm, is open to those twenty-one and older, and is free to attend. Fistful of Haggis starts playing at 8:00 pm, and Mother Grove will take the stage by 9:00 pm.
