Filmmaker Prakash Jha celebrated his 67th birthday today. He is not only a producer-director, but he is also an actor and screenwriter. He has made socio-political movies like Aarakshan (2011), Apaharan (2005), Chakravyuh (2012), Damul (1984),  Gangaajal (2003),  Mrityudand (1997), Raajneeti (2010) and Satyagraha (2013). He has also made documentaries like Faces After the Storm (1984) and Sonal (2002), which won National Film Awards.

He was a Physics B.Sc. (Honors) Student, but left college after one year. He came to Mumbai to become a painter. He almost joined J J School of Arts. However, he witnessed the shooting of Dharma (1973) and got inspired to make movies. He began with a course in editing at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, the same year. Due to students’ agitation, he could not complete the course. He came back to Mumbai to begin work in Bollywood and did not return to complete the course.
