Preview: Von Strantz w/ Native Land at Black Circle Brewing

On Friday, March 9th, Black Circle Brewing Co. will be hosting a show with several performances for locals to enjoy while they sip their craft beers. Headlining the show and performing new material will be Von Strantz, accompanied by Native Land, and Emily Myren.

Von Strantz

Von Strantz biography sounds like the coming of age tale of a superhero. As stated on their website, “In early 2012 a terrible car accident left Von Strantz incapable of using their hands. After months of physical therapy and waiting for healing the day finally came and out of healing Von Strantz began”. Actually, I’m pretty sure that’s almost exactly what happened to Doctor Strange, except he got magical spirit powers instead of musical ability.

Von Strantz released their self-titled, debut album in 2013. Since then, they have put out five additional albums. Their latest release, “Apple Of Your Eye” came out in 2017.¬† You can listen to Von Strantz by visiting their Bandcamp page.

Native Land

Native Land is an indie rock duo from Lincoln, Illinois. They’ve also got an interesting tale, though it has less to do with their origin story, and more to do with their lifestyle. As stated on their Facebook profile, “Native Land, musical nomadic husband & wife duo journey across the United States writing songs for the people that they meet along the way”. A married set of modern bards. You couldn’t ask for much more.

Native Land is Matthew Hobler and Jess Von Strantz (yes, the same Von Strantz). To find out more about Native Land, you can find them on Facebook. You can also listen to Native Land on Bandcamp.

Emily Myren

Emily Myren is an Indianapolis singer and songwriter. She released her debut EP “Go” in 2009, and her sophomore album “Found” in 2014. Myren’s most recent album, “2017” released in, you guessed it, 2017. You can listen to her music on Bandcamp.

You can find Emily Myren on Facebook.

The show with Von Strantz, Native Land, and Emily Myren starts at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 9th at Black Circle Brewing.
