Next Friday is the First Friday of March, and as is tradition, there are many venues across town (especially in Fountain Square), waving the cover charge to encourage more people to come out and enjoy live music. Radio Radio is not one of these, however they will be hosting what they claim is one of their favorite shows of the year. This is Cash Bash, an annual celebration of the one and only, Johnny Cash. Performing at Radio Radio for Cash Bash this year will be Frank Dean and the Shennesse Three, Cari Ray and The Loners, and The Cousin Brothers.
Frank Dean and the Shennesse Three
According to his Facebook’s profile, “Frank Dean has been at the forefront of Indiana music scene for over three decades. He’s recorded over a dozen projects either solo or with Hard Times, Blue DeVille, Hillbilly Central, Sindacato, and The Snakehandlers”. With four decades of folk, country, and Americana experience, Dean is truly a veteran in the music scene, and Indianapolis is lucky to have him.
The members of Frank Dean and the Shennesse Three are Frank Dean (vocals, guitar), LuAnn Lietz (vocals, percussion, acoustic guitar), Kim Gradolf (vocals, guitar), Michael Wilson (vocals, bass), and Gene Trueblood (pedal steel). That’s more than three, I know. I guess the “Shennesse Four” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
You can find out more about Frank Dean by visiting his Facebook page.
Cari Ray and The Loners
Cari Ray is an Americana, Roots, and blues singer, songwriter, and musician from Nashville, Tennessee. She released her debut album “Always On” in 2009. Since then, Cari Ray has put out three additional albums. “Modern Relic” in 2012, “Wabash II” in 2013, and “Swagger” in 2014.
The Cousin Brothers
The Cousin Brothers are a bluegrass, rock, and country band from Indianapolis that formed in 2004. You may recognize them from their regular morning radio show, “Stuck in the Morning” with Don Stuck on WRZX 103.3 FM in Indianapolis.
The Cousin Brothers are Kevin Vickery (bass, lead vocals), Ben Long (banjo, guitar, vocals), T.R. Yelton (drums), and Dave Bagdade (lead guitar, mandolin, vocals). You can find out more by visiting their website. You can also find The Cousin Brothers on Facebook.
Cash Bash at Radio Radio starts off at 9:00 pm on Friday, March 2nd, and will run until 11:45 pm. Tickets to the show are ten dollars, but are running out fast.
