Late Madhubala’s Birthday


Actor Madhubala would have been 85 today if death had not snatched her from us prematurely. Born Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi, she is one of the most beautiful female actors from Bollywood. She was conferred epithets like The Venus of Indian Cinema and The Beauty with Tragedy. When she was featured in Life magazine, she was called the biggest star the international film fraternity had produced. She worked in several movies from 1942 to 1962. Madhubala came to public notice with her fantastic performances in movies like Mahal (1949),  Mr and Mrs 55 (1955), Amar (1954), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Barsaat Ki Raat (1960) and Mughal-e-Azam (1960). Jwala (1971) was her last movie and was released 2 years post her death.
