Raga Pilu

Today, we decided to take up the Raga Pilu. Raga Pilu denotes a light mood and is the right raga for Bhajans and Thumris. It is full of piety and devotion. The swaras Ri and Dha are varjit or not used during aaroha. The 2 Gas, Dhas and Nis are komal and the rest are shuddha swaras. The presence of komal Ga and shuddha Ni belonging to mandra saptak at once creates the mood of the raga. Here the komal Ni is used with shuddha Dha and shuddha Ni with komal Dha. The jati is audhav sampoorna. The raga belongs to Thaat Kafi. The songs based on this raga are sung in the 3rd part of the day. This raga can be expanded in mandra and madhya octaves.
