Next Friday, January 12th, be sure to get down to Fountain Square Brewing for a few beers and live music. Fountain Square Brewing Co. is celebrating its sixth year anniversary and their 1,000th batch of brewed craft beer. Playing the event will be the bands Mutts, Brother O’ Brother, and Heartland Heretics.
Mutts is a Chicago-based rock trio that was founded in 2009. The members of Mutts are Mike Maimone (keys, vocals), Bob Buckstaff (bass, guitar), and Ian Tsan (drums). According to their website, 2017 was a big year for the Mutts. “2017 Mutts highlights include a performance at House of Blues Chicago, Alternating Currents festival presented by Daytrotter, and headlining shows at staple venues”. Mutts blends soulful, bluesy-rock with a bit of a pop feel to it that makes them sound similar to The Black Keys.
Brother O’ Brother
Brother O’ Brother is a two-piece garage-rock and soul band from Indianapolis. Its members consist of Chris Banta (guitar, vocals), and Warner Swopes (drums). Their sound is like an amped-up version of The Black Keys, with less emphasis on blues and pop, and more on straight up rock and roll. Brother O’ Brother’s most recent album “Neon Native” came out in 2017. Their next release, “Monster Truck” is set to release in 2018.
Heartland Heretics is a pop-punk and rock band from Indianapolis. While they stand out in regards to genre, Heartland Heretics is a three-piece band, so they at least hit the minimalist mark. Heartland Heretics released their first album “Fighting the Good Fight” in 2016. Their most recent, “The Balance”, came out in October of 2017.
You can find and listen to Heartland Heretics on Bandcamp.
With such a great lineup you almost couldn’t ask for more. Well, here it comes. The show next Friday at Fountain Square Brewing is free. Be sure to thank the hosts by buying a round of beer from their 1,000th batch.
