Anil Kapoor’s birthday is round the corner and I am in a birthday mood too. Let us celebrate his birthday with some of his songs. First for the people, who came late, let us have something about his background. This unconventional actor has reaped appreciation from critics as well as the audience. He has bagged 6 Filmfare Awards and even 2 National Awards. He is so versatile that he has performed a wide range of roles not only in Hindi cinema but also in the international arena.
He debuted as a 12-year-old Shashi Kapoor in Tu Payal Main Geet (1971). But, for some reason, the movie was not released in the cinemas. His actual debut was a cameo in Hamare Tumhare (1979). He first played the lead role in the Punjabi film Jatt Punjab Da (1983). He has also played negative roles as in Tashan (2008). He has worked in the regional movies like the Telugu Vamsa Vruksham (1980) and Kannada Pallavi Anu Pallavi (1983). His international works include Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and the 8th season of the action series 24. Pukar (2000) and Gandhi, My Father (2008) gave him his National Awards.
