Movie: This song appeared in 2017 Yash-Raj Films’ romantic drama Meri Pyaari Bindu (My Lovely Bindu) produced by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma and directed by Akshay Roy. The movie featured Ayushmann Khurrana, Parineeti Chopra, etc. The movie did not achieve much success.
Abhimanyu Roy (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Bindu Shankaranarayanan (Parineeti Chopra) are best friends since their childhood. Abhimanyu has always been in love with Bindu much to the chagrin of his mother. He never conveys his real feelings to Bindu and is happy with just friendship. He helps her in her ambition to become a singer and they visit a club for an audition. I don’t understand if the audience is not interested in her song, why she has to entice them with the exposure of her body. That is a failure of her dreams of becoming a singer. And that is not funny. While returning from one such audition, they meet some other friends and sing this song.
Song: The lyrics of this song were penned by Kausar Munir and the music was composed by Sachin-Jigar.
The gist of the song is, “This youth of ours does not let us live. Let disrepute come to us. We have to take advantage of our youth.”
Video: Cinematography is by Tushar Kanti Ray. Dance choreography is by Rajit Dev-Ranju Varghese.
The video opens with the lead pair beginning to dance. Ayushmann Khurrana begins to sing as well. The set of a bus-shed has been made in a studio. The lead pair dances all around the place. The music is retro and so is the dance. Soon, the song peters out and the video ends as all the friends leave the place.
Artists: The playback has been sung by Nakash Aziz and Jonita Gandhi and the onscreen performances are by Ayushmann Khurrana, Parineeti Chopra and others.
Cultural Influence: There is not much cultural influence on this typically filmi song. But, an interesting attempt was made by the music composers at making a retro song because the lead pair is shown having an interest in old songs. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
