Love shopping more than anything? It’s about to get real with week-long Black Friday sales

Black Friday, whether you love it or hate it, has become something of a holiday tradition in the U.S. Sure, it’s centered around acquiring the gifts you plan on giving your loved ones on Christmas morning, but the pre-dawn store openings, long lines and stampeding crowds can put a damper on anyone’s Christmas spirit.

Cyber Monday is the answer to many once avid Black Friday shoppers who no longer wish to brave the traffic, the parking or the early hours. Also? Knowledge is power. If you do plan on shopping on Black Friday, be prepared. Know where you’re going, what you’re getting and who has the best deal on the top items on your list. And make sure to do your research for the online deals to be had well before Cyber Monday.

“We believe that this year will be the first time online sales surpass in-store sales,” EarlyBlackFriday.com co-founder Jon Vincent said. “Retailers are embracing internet-based sales and pushing online very hard by making it clear to shoppers in the Black Friday sales circulars that they can get these deals online on Thanksgiving day or earlier.”

Smart home products such as Amazon’s Echo and Google Home are prominently featured in this year’s Black Friday ads.

Google Home is one of the top gift list items this Christmas

“For children, we expect the line of toys for Nickelodeon Jr’s Paw Patrol cartoon will continue to be popular gifts this year.

These are items with price tags that rarely waiver, so finding a deal on one of these items is something you shouldn’t pass up if one of these devices is on your gift list.

“The big screen TVs are still the main ‘eye candy’ in the Black Friday ads but overlooked product categories such as luggage, children’s pajama sets and bedding are really the best buys,” Vincent said.

These gifts are also often the most accessible compared to the limited supply of TVs in many stores.

Vincent also has a big location tip for Black Friday shoppers.

“If you only go to one store on Black Friday, visit Target,” he said. “Their deals are much better than Walmart this year.”

Vincent said that it’s very important for shoppers to remember that Black Friday deals aren’t always just available on Black Friday.

“Some retailers (Amazon, Kohl’s) will have their deals available starting on Monday during the week of Thanksgiving,” he said. “Also, if you’re looking for the best time to snag a deal, stay upWednesday night and shop then. Retailers typically ‘flip the switch’ on their sale a few hours before Thanksgiving so you can quickly get the deals while everyone else is sleeping.”
