For all those metal-lovers out there, here’s another one to put on your calendar. You’ll want to buy tickets soon, because they’re going fast. Next Friday at the Hoosier Dome will feature the bands Wage War and Oceans Ate Alaska, along with Gideon, Loathe and Varials.
The metalcore band from Ocala, Florida recently released their new album, “Deadweight”. Next Friday’s show will mark the kickoff of their national “Deadweight” tour. The group is composed of Briton Bond (vocals), Cody Quistad (guitar/vocals), Seth Blake (guitar), Chris Gaylord (bass), and Stephen Kluesener (drums). Wage War formed in Florida in 2013, and has been playing together ever since. Their Facebook page goes into more detail about their most recent album. “Lyrically, Deadweight sees the band exploring both personal to political issues in a way that’s as raw and honest as the music that supports them”.
Oceans Ate Alaska
Oceans Ate Alaska is a progressive/metalcore band from Birmingham, UK. Its members include Chris Turner (drums), James Kennedy (guitar), Mike Stanton (bass), Adam Zytkiewicz (guitar), and Jake Noakes (vocals). The group released their debut album “Lost Isles” in 2015. Their music breaks down boundaries between genres, opening up metal to include far more subtlety and nuance than it has before.
You can find Oceans Ate Alaska on Facebook.
Gideon is a hardcore/metal band from Alabama that formed in 2008. The members of Gideon are Daniel McWhorter (vocals), Tyler Riley (guitar), and Jake Smelley (drums). Their performance at the Hoosier Dome comes just weeks after their tour of Europe and the UK with In Hearts Wake and Silent Screams. For more information, you can find Gideon on Facebook.
Loathe is another band hailing from the UK that will be joining Wage War on the “Deadweight” tour. The group consists of Kadeem France (vocals), Erik Bickerstaffe (guitar/vocals), Shayne Smith (bass/vocals), Connor Sweeney (guitar/vocals), and Sean Radcliffe (drums). You can find out more about Loathe by visiting their website. You can also find Loathe on Facebook.
Varials is a five-piece metal band from Philadelphia, PA made up of Travis Tabron (vocals), Mitchell Rogers (guitar), James Hohenwarter (guitar), Sean Rauchut (drums), and Mike Foley (bass). Their profile claims that Varials “augment an airtight assault of metallic unpredictability and hardcore spirit with poetic punchlines and lyrical storytelling”. Those are big words, but I’ve got the feeling that Varials have the music to back it up. To find out more about them, visit their Facebook or website.
So if you’re up for a full night of thrashing metal that breaks down boundaries between genres, you’ll want to find yourself at the Hoosier Dome next Friday night. There are a lot of concerts sett for Black Friday, but for fans of metal, this should be the only one on the list. The show starts at 6:00 pm Friday night, and tickets start at sixteen dollars.
