Presented by Sun King Brewery and MOKB, Sunday, Nov. 19 will see Joywave bring the “Thanks. Thanks for Coming 2017” tour to The Hi-Fi along with The Aces and Maybird.

Joywave

Since 2010, New York’s Joywave has been a staple of the indie pop and indie rock genres, offering up some fun, electronic-infused jams. After a long-standing collaboration with Big Data, lead singer Daniel Armbruster co-wrote what became the band’s big break  “Dangerous.” The success of the Big Data song helped propel Joywave into the mainstream. This was only further by the release of the band’s fantastic 2014 EP, “How Do You Feel?”

In 2015, Joywave released their debut full-length album, “How Do You Feel Now?” which reached No. 25 on the Billboard Alternative chart. The album included the infectious single, “Tongues,” a song you’ve absolutely heard even if you didn’t realize it.
Following up the well-received debut, Joywave released “Content” in July of 2017, an album that continues the band’s indie-electronic sounds, albeit with a bit more maturity and atmosphere. You can expect to hear a great deal of the new record during the show.

The Aces

This female quartet features Cristal and Alisa Ramirez on vocals/guitar and drums, respectively, as well as Katie Henderson on guitar and McKenna Petty on bass. The Utah-based indie-pop rockers have definite The 1975 vibes, especially from an instrumentation standpoint, while also bringing out comparisons to fellow female rockers, MUNA.
Playing local gigs and school assemblies during their high school days, The Aces have been around since 2008, releasing a debut EP in 2012. Now, the band is looking to make waves in the industry after releasing “I Don’t Like Being Honest,” its first EP on Red Bull Records.

Maybird

Out of Brooklyn and Rochester, New York comes Maybird. Featuring the Netsky brothers (Josh and Adam) as well as Sam Snyder and Kurt Johnson, this talented quartet formed in 2013, when a chance concert in the woods brought them all together.

Since then, things have moved fast, and led to the  recording of a debut EP “Turning Into Water,” which was released on Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records label. This year, the band released another EP, “Unraveling,” and are working on their full-length debut.

Check them out on Friday and learn more on their Facebook page.

The Hi-Fi doors open for the 21 and over show at 7:00 pm, with the bands taking the stage at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $15.
