Do you enjoy cold craft beers? On Sept. 16, 2017 my wife and I attended Whitestown Brewfest. This event was jam-packed with several brewers, food vendors, and the Duke. We tried several different samples of beer and wine. Deviate Brewing, Mind Over Mash, Four-day Ray Brewing, Ash and Elm, Black Hawk Winery & Vineyard, Moontown Brewing Company, Wabash Brewing, F.B.I. and Tyson Craft Brewing, were some of the participants in Brewfest.
I tried several different beers one from River Rat brews was called Murder Juice. Some of the other names were Cookie Monster, Skittles Berliner Weisse, Nutty Brit, and Caged Beast. The food vendors were Grillant Foods, Flamee Burger, and Pizza King.
William (Bill) Severen Fiorio aka Duke Tumato entertained the crowd and sung his song ” God Help My Colts. ” Tumato has performed with classic artists such as R.E.O Speedwagon, B.B. King, Muddy Waters and John Fogerty to name a few.
When patrons arrived, they were given a cup for samples, V.I.P credentials, and a beer cap. The beer cap was used to drop into the box of the brewer you thought presented the best brew.
As the event was coming to an end, a staff member counted the caps in each brewer’s box. The conclusion was Tyson Craft Brewery won the Brewfest vote with his two entries, Nutty Brit, and Caged Beast.
As I talked with the Brew Master, he told me he brewed the two beers in his garage at home. He also stated that he plans on opening up his own brewery soon. Another Brew Master at Mind Over Mash informed me they will be opening up a location in Brownsburg within the next three months.
Our time at Brewfest was a great way to spend the day and enjoy some very unique brews. And there is another event coming up soon that you should keep your eye out for. It is called Red, White, and Brew Fest and it will be held on Oct. 14, 2017 at The American Legion Mall, 700 N. Pennsylvania St. Indianapolis, Indiana.
