Chris Young is headed to the Grand Ole Opry

The Grand Ole Opry will get a new member next month. Chris Young has just been announced as an inductee into the organization. The induction will take place on Oct. 17. According to CMT, Vince Gill made the surprise announcement on Aug. 29.

Young had planned to play at the Grand Ole Opry with Vince Gill. However, Gill wound up surprising him with a couple of plaques stating his album “Neon” had gone platinum. His “Think of You” single had also gone platinum and “Sober Saturday Night” received a gold certification.

After making the plaque presentation, Gill made a deal with the country music singer. Gill promised to waive the membership fees for Young if he agreed to become a new member of the Grand Ole Opry. Naturally, Young was quick to jump on board with the idea. Later, Young said that the invitation means the world to him and he loved that his grandfather had been there to see the invitation unfold.

Young is a favorite country singer with a lot to offer the world of country music. His grandfather raised him on classic country music, including artists Marty Robbins and Lefty Frizzell. He tries to include that influence in his music. He’s just released his sixth studio album and is currently producing videos for the tracks on that album.

He’s also busy raising money for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. His GoFundMe Account is nearly to $400,000 with 3,500 donors adding to the money to the account in just 8 days. Young currently has several events planned throughout the end of the year. If you want to attend a live event for yourself, make sure you check out the country artist’s website and tour schedule.
