Country singer Ashley Monroe has earned a new title–Mom. The singer gave birth to her first child, a son, last week. She and husband John Danks named the boy Dalton William Danks, and shared the happy news on Instagram.
Since first announcing her pregnancy Christmas 2016, Monroe has been busy keeping her fans updated on her progress. She quickly shared the results of the baby’s gender on social media and talked about her pregnancy several times on Instagram. Now she and her husband are finally able to bring their little bundle home and begin enjoying him.
You’ll probably remember Monroe from her time with the Pistol Annies. Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley are the other members of the trio. Monroe is the singer with the highest register of the three.
They got their start back in April 2011 on a CBS special. “Hell on Heels,” their debut album, was released later that year. Since then, the trio has spent some time apart from one another to build their own careers. However, they do say they plan to release new music next year. In the meantime, Monroe is taking some time off the road and stepping away from music so she can enjoy her newborn son.
Monroe and her husband aren’t the only country music stars adding to their families this year. In fact, many other country music artists are also expecting a baby or have recently had one. Thomas Rhett added to his family in a couple of ways. Not only is his wife expecting their first biological child later this year, but the couple also adopted a baby from Africa earlier this year.
Jason Aldean, Dylan Scott, Lee Brice, and Brantley Gilbert are all expecting babies soon as well. One interesting story coming out of the baby boom of country music is Tyler Hubbard’s, of Florida Georgia Line. Hubbard and his wife are also expecting and initially believed they were having a boy. However, according to EOnline, the couple got an interesting surprise when some blood tests were run last week.
“Gods (sic) got jokes…..After thinking we are having a boy for the last few months, turns out the blood test was wrong and we’re actually having a little girl,” the star posted on social media. “Woe(sic)…so many emotions but really really excited about this next chapter even if God does like throwing us a curve ball every now and then. Just keeping us on our toes. #daddysgirl.”
In other country music news, people are tying the knot. Dan Smyers, of the hit duo Dan + Shay, recently tied the knot with girlfriend, Abby Law. The couple had an adorable ceremony where their dogs served as groomsmen.
Maren Morris is also planning to wed fiancé Ryan Hurd after he popped the question in July 2017. It’s awesome to watch all these influential country music icons grow their families and make changes to their personal lives. Chances are we will begin to see a lot of great music come out of all these fun events.
