Prakash (Joy Mukherjee) lives in Chandan Nagar with his sister, Mala (Malika) and widowed mother (Durga Khote). Mala becomes a victim of a train accident when she is on the way to a friend’s wedding. With Mala, her boyfriend Motilal (Johnny Walker) and another woman (Saira Banu) are hospitalized. Due to the accident, the woman loses her memory after being molested by Kailash (Pran). Mala and Prakash convince their mother to take this woman back home with them. They call her Jyoti. Prakash has fallen in love with her and she also reciprocates the feelings. But, when Motilal suggests to Prakash’s mother to wed Jyoti with her son. She finds it difficult to accept the alliance. One day, Prakash and Jyoti sing this song on a date.
