Chester Bennington of Linkin Park: musicians mourn passing

With heavy hearts, we have learned of Chester Bennington’s passing. The Linkin Park singer was just 41 years old. This comes after the death of close friend Chris Cornell. Today would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday. In an open letter, Bennington shares his heartfelt grief over Cornell’s passing.

Now, musicians mourn the loss of two important figures in the rock community. In an article shared by Alternative Press, we see how much this news has shocked and impacted other artists.

Bennington’s death will be felt keenly in the rock community. Linkin Park had a huge influence on both the alternative rock and nu metal genre.

Linkin Park formed in 1996, fusing nu metal and rap metal into the alternative rock genre. The band rose to prominence with their debut album “Hybrid Theory” in 2000. After contemplating giving up his music career altogether, Bennington auditioned for what would later become Linkin Park.
