The Districts is set to bring an atmospheric rock set that is uniquely their own to The Hi-Fi on July 15. The 21 and over show will highlight the Pennsylvania band’s sonic growth from their debut album in 2012 to their 2015 release “A Flourish and A Soul” to their current singles “Ordinary Day” and “If Before I Wake.”
“If Before I Wake” is the latest of the two single releases and manages to showcase their indie rock sound while containing some serious thematic material. It was written the morning after a storm and seems to combine the points of view of both a child and a grown man. The song’s tone wavers between spiritual and sarcastic at times.
The Districts is a four-piece that started out as a high school garage band in Lititz, Pennsylvania. They signed to Fat Possum Records before dropping their 2015 album.
What’s next for The Districts? They’re set to play Lollapalooza later this summer and their upcoming album “Popular Manipulations” will be released on August 11, 2017.
Indie rock lovers can head to The Hi-Fi on July 15 to catch this show which is set to begin at 9 p.m. Doors open at 8 p.m. This is a 21 and over event. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here.
