LCD Soundsystem is set to reissue their studio albums on vinyl this month including their self-titled debut, “45:33,” “This Is Happening,” and live in-studio release, “London Sessions.” The first three will be released June 23, while “London Sessions” will be released on June 30. All will be reissued under the Rhino label.
The news follows frontman James Murphy’s announcement last month that the band’s first new studio album in 7 years was more or less complete. Murphy said the band was “done with the record” on May 27 and that it would be released within six weeks or so “at the fastest”. He also added that the whole experience was one of the most enjoyable of his career, saying that it was “the happiest I’ve ever been making a record.”
The new album will likely include the two recently released songs “Call the Police” and “American Dream,” both of which made their television debut on “Saturday Night Live” last month when the band was the musical guest. Judging from Murphy’s announced timeline, the release of the band’s new album may just coincide with the re-release of the band’s acclaimed back catalog.
LCD Soundsystem has also been returning to regular live performance, recently completing a set at the Sasquatch! Music Festival. Now they prepare to headline this year’s Pitchfork and Forecastle music festivals in July alongside a world tour.
