This is by far one of the most difficult Top Tens list! I’ve been long obsessed with the “rotating music collective,” and to classify merely 10 tunes as “the best” is impossible. Thus, I have come up with a solution to this dilemma! Rather than choosing ten songs that supposedly triumph over the rest, I’ll list the top ten songs covered by PMJ that nearly everyone should recognize!

Top 10 most recognizable Postmodern Jukebox covers

1. “Oops..I Did It Again”

It’s Britney, B–! This has got to be one of the most recognizable Britney Spears songs out there. In fact, I distinctly remember when they came out with a Barbie doll that sang this song! In this sexy version of Britney’s classic, powerhouse Haley Reinhart takes a pop-hit and turns it into a classy masterpiece!

2. “Royals”

Alright, this song has been overplayed. It’s unfortunate though, because both the lyrics and the sound are quite ingenius and undeniably catchy. I will say this though – Puddles certainly “wore it better.” Just about everyone today can identify this pop single – once you hear this dark, alluring version of the hit by the notoriously “sad” clown, however, there’s absolutely no going back.

3. “Smells Like Teen Spirit”

Here we are now … entertain us! An anthem for the angsty and the defining song of an era, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is a grunge classic that will never be forgotten. PMJ takes a hard, rigid tune and transforms it into a light and elegant piece of art! Whereas this cover may not compare in awesomeness to the original, it is without a doubt a very skillfully orchestrated piece of music!

4. “Sweet Child o’ Mine”

Nearly every person in existence is familiar with this Guns N’ Roses classic. Casey Abrams absolutely killed it with this raspy “vintage” cover of the hard rock masterpiece – I mean seriously, what a set of pipes!

There is also a heavy, soulful cover of this song performed by the highly spirited Miche Braden. Definitely worth a listening to!

5. “Barbie Girl”

Roll your eyes all you want, but there’s no denying that the hit single by the quirky band “Aqua” is widely known! The original is without a doubt catchy, and PMJ’s version is no different! If you’re a fan of “The Beach Boys” then this is the cover for you! Postmodern’s version of the pop classic can easily pass as a 1950’s work of art.

6. “Bye Bye Bye”

Boy bands – you either love em’ or you hate em’! Regardless, you are clearly lying if you say that you don’t know NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye”. It’s so catchy, and pretty much defines the 90’s boy band scene. PMJ takes this popular 90’s single back to the 60’s with a fun surfer-rock version of the iconic NSYNC classic.

You’re welcome.

7. “Titanium”

2012’s “Pitch Perfect” ultimately popularized this already well-known pop single – but PMJ perfected it. Von Smith performs a bouncier, more uplifting “vintage” version of this bold song, and it is truthfully memorizing. How fond are you of the 1940’s Jazz scene? You’re about to find out.

8. “Ice Ice Baby”

I laugh every time this song comes on, and I don’t even know why! It’s become trendy to both enjoy and ridicule this terribly catchy earworm. You never knew how much you could enjoy Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” until you’ve heard it performed by Aubrey Logan alongside PMJ, though! It’s such a sophisticated and delightful take on such a beat-driven single – refreshing to say the very least! Let’s not forget that there is also literally an ice sculpture of Vanilla Ice on the sidelines – how much cooler can this cover get? Pun intended.

9. “We Can’t Stop”

We can’t stop, and we won’t stop – listening to this charming version of Miley Cyrus’ 2013 pop hit, that is! Both the original and this totally-retro cover are equally as enjoyable. However, there’s just something purely magical about the way Robyn Adele Anderson breathes these well-known pop lyrics.

10. “Never Gonna Give You Up”

That’s right, you’ve just been “Rickrolled” – Postmodern style! How could I not end this list on such a trendy, fun-loving note?

There are literally tons and tons of covers that I could have included on this list – but as hard as it was to choose, it still got the job done! To hear other recognizable tunes such as Blink 182’s “All The Small Things,” Iggy Azelia’s “Fancy” and many more, do yourself a favor and head on over to YouTube!
