Tyler the Creator, Post Malone & Passion Pit are coming to NXNE

Festival Season 2017 has arrived, and one to definitely keep on your radar is North by Northeast (NXNE) in Toronto — the Canadian counterpart to South by Southwest in Dallas. NXNE kicks off on June 16th and winds up on the 25th, packed with top-tier talent, club performances and interactive events across the city.

This year’s headliners include Passion Pit, Tyler the Creater and Post Malone, among other big-name and local artists.

The nine day festival will be hosting shows at some of Toronto’s largest and most legendary venues, including Danforth Music Hall, Adelaide Hall and Horseshoe Tavern. NXNE will be taking over the Port Lands waterfront district for the closing weekend, with performances by the festival’s most anticipated headliners.

Festival-goers can expect to see significant upgrades to their NXNE experience at Port Lands this year, including a carnival setup with games, prizes and a Ferris wheel. “We’re really going to embrace our lakeside setting,” says NXNE co-founder Mark Hollett, “We love the new site, we love the location, we just want to make it more fun.”

Hollett also comments on the festival’s “unique flavor,” and attracting a younger crowd with this year’s wave of performers. “We’re definitely going younger, I think we have a lot more hip-hop and soul than other festivals in Toronto.”

NXNE is known for reinventing the conventional festival experience with comedy shows, gaming competitions and digital interactive media events into the mix. Going on its 23rd year, NXNE will be ramping things up with three full days of live eSports competitions and demos from June 16th to 18th in Toronto’s bustling Yonge-Dundas square.

NXNE organizers are excited for people to experience the new “discovery” theme at this year’s festival, which embraces a diverse program of art, culture, music and entertainment acts to explore.
