Ladke o re ladke – Vishal/Rekha – Pritam Chakraborty – Ranbir/Madhuri | Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013)

Movie: This song appeared in 2013 Dharma Productions’ hit romantic drama Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (This Youth is Crazy) produced by Karan Johar and directed by Ayan Mukherji. The movie starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, late Farooq Sheikh, Tanvi Azmi, Dolly Ahluwalia, etc.
The movie begins with Naina Talwar (Deepika Padukone) going shopping with her mother (Dolly Ahluwalia) and meeting her school friend Aditi Mehra (Kalki Koechlin) there. Aditi is an outgoing funky girl while Naina is a shy and nerdy girl studying medicine. When Naina hears that Aditi is going to Manali for vacations, she realizes what she had missed all through her life.
On the other hand, Kabir ‘Bunny’ Thapar (Ranbir Kapoor) is seen shooting a documentary on sex workers and he meets Mohini (Madhuri Dixit) in the red-light area. It is then that they sing this song.
Song: The music of this song was scored by Pritam Chakraborty and the lyrics were penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
The woman tells the boy that he is not a man yet. She is trying to shoo him off the place. But, he is adamant on staying there.
Video: Cinematography is by Manikandan. Dance choreography is by Remo D’Souza.
The video opens with a man introducing Mohini or Madhuri Dixit. She comes out and introduces the song with some spoken verses. Ranbir Kapoor climbs down some stairs and also speaks some verses. Madhuri Dixit and Ranbir Kapoor have a conversation in verses and she moves away from him.
Ranbir Kapoor does some sit ups. Madhuri Dixit begins to sing and dance to the tune of this song. Ranbir Kapoor joins her in it. Several female dancers make dance movements, sitting on stairs or standing on balconies. Soon, he kisses her on her cheek and leaves. Thus, the video ends.
There are some hints to the word viagra with via Agra, which is cheap and vulgar. Though such words have made into Bollywood songs of today, there is still hope because for every such song there are others with decency in them. Some dance movements are also vulgar.
Artists: The playback singers are Madhuri Dixit, Ranbir Kapoor, Rekha Bharadwaj and Vishal Dadlani and the onscreen performances are by Madhuri Dixit, Ranbir Kapoor and others.
Cultural Influence: This is a typical filmi song where the woman tells the hero to stay away from her because he had not matured yet. The song and the artists are ok.
