The other members of his family include 3 brothers – Ramesh (Jawahar Kaul), Rajan (Raja Gosavi) and Baldev (Jagdeep) – and an aunt (Durga Khote). Ratanlal allows Shanta’s child-widow sister Lata (Nanda) also to live with them. Advocate Motilal (Bipin Gupta) has been Ratanlal’s mentor.
Soon, Mithu (Daisy Irani) is a school-going boy. In the meantime, Ratanlal’s brother Ramesh also becomes a lawyer and bags a job with their family friend Advocate Motilal. Ratanlal decides to arrange his manager Munshiram’s (Shivraj) daughter Mangala’s (Nalini) marriage with his brother Ramesh. But, Advocate Motilal’s daughter Tara (Shyama) and Ramesh are in love with each other. Ratanlal gets to know about it from his mentor Motilal and he changes his mind.
Ratanlal decides to marry Ramesh with Tara and Rajan with Mangala. When the newlyweds were being welcomed into the house, Lata runs out to apply tilak to Rajan. Mangala gets to know from some gossipmongering women that Lata is a child-widow and thinks her appearing in front of her inauspicious. At night, she fights with her husband and he gets angry as she had insulted Lata, who was loved by everyone at their home. On the other hand, Tara and Ramesh are blissfully beginning their wedded life.
Ramesh is given the job of handling the business in Bangalore. Tara becomes pregnant and wants to go to her husband in Bangalore. Shanta insists that she go with Baldev. But, Baldev is in the process of practicing for a kite-flying contest. He and Lata sing this song at that time.
Song: The lyrics of this song were penned by Rajinder Kishen and the music was composed by Chitragupt.
The man says, “My kite is flying. It is flying off beyond the clouds. It is climbing on its thread. The whole world got jealous looking at it.” The girl adds, “It undulates in the wind like a flying cart. With determination in the heart, like some newly wedded bride goes to her husband’s place.”
Video: Cinematography is by S Maruti Rao. Dance choreography is by K N Dandayudapani Pillai.
The video opens with 7 kites flying together in the sky. On the ground, it is Jagdeep, who is flying them. He is holding the roller, around which the kites’ single thread has been rolled. He begins to sing the song. He moves toward his right in a bid to hold the kites afloat in the wind.
Nanda enters the garden and joins Jagdeep in the song. She also performs dance steps. Nanda snatches the roller from Jagdeep’s hands and takes over the reins of the kites. He takes back the roller from her and she continues singing and dancing. The thread gets entangled around a tree and Jagdeep is upset. Nanda untangles the thread and gives it to him. The song peters out and the video ends there.
Artists: The playback of this song was sung by Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar and the onscreen performance is by Jagdeep and Nanda.
Cultural Influence: This is a typical filmi song, sung by the man and the girl while flying a kite. The man is practicing for a kite-flying competition. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
