Movie: This song appeared in 2015 Rajshri Productions’ hit romantic flick Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Found a Treasure Called Love) directed by Sooraj Barjatiya and produced by Ajit Kumar Barjatya, Kamal Kumar Barjatya and Rajkumar Barjatya. The movie starred Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Deepak Dobriyal, Anupam Kher, Deepraj Rana, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Arman Kohli, Swara Bhaskar, Aashika Bhatia, Sanjay Mishra, etc.
The movie begins with a Ram Leela performance. After the performance of the play in the form of a song, Prem Dilwale (Salman Khan) receives a lot of small donations from the audience. These donations are for the Uphaar Foundation run by Princess Maithili (Sonam Kapoor). Maithili lives in Delhi. But, she is engaged to Prince Vijay Singh (Salman Khan again) of Pritampur.
Unknown to most people, Vijay encounters a fatal accident while returning from somewhere. Prem, on the other hand, idolizes Maithili and gets the chance to meet her in person. Prem and his friend Kanhaiya (Deepak Dobriyal) leave for Pritampur since she is expected there. On the way, he meets the head of palace security staff Sanjay (Deepraj Rana) and the man is stunned by Prem’s likeness to the Prince.
Sanjay takes Prem and his friend to the fort ramparts and leaves them in the open. Sanjay, then, takes the medicines to a hidden room in the fort where the Prince is being treated. The Prince had been saved by the security guards when the accident had occurred. With the Prince’s coronation in 4 days, he is in a coma. When Sanjay is trying to talk to Diwan Sahab (Anupam Kher) about Prem, they hear the banging of large drums. It is at this time that Prem and his friend sing this song.
Song: The music of this song was scored by Himesh Reshammiya and the lyrics were penned by Irshad Kamil.
The man says, “It is time to leave for Radha’s home. Delicate Radha shies away from Lord Krishna. When touched, she shivers.” The song talks of the love between Lord Krishna and Radha.
Video: Cinematography is by V Manikandan. Dance choreography is by Radhika Rao-Vinay Sapru-Ahmad Khan-Mudassar Khan-Shabina Khan.
The video opens with Salman Khan playing the large drums. Then, he begins to dance. Deepak Dobriyal pretends to play a string instrument on a canon. Salman Khan holds a large stick like a flute and moves in rhythm with the music. Deepak Dobriyal hits a tin box with a stick. Both place the tips of the stick on their belly and dance holding it like that.
Salman Khan begins the song after moving the stick from his belly. Deepak Dobriyal has also done the same thing. Both of them continue to dance. Deepak Dobriyal plays Radha like he played Sita in the beginning of the movie. Anupam Kher and Deepraj Rana watch from the top of the fort.
Anupam Kher goes to different places to watch Salman Khan from different angles. Deepraj Rana tells him something. The video ends there. The flat surfaces inside the fort have been used very well for the dance. The presence of only 2 actors dancing has been the right decision instead of using a large number of extra dancers and crowding the place as it is usually done nowadays.
Artists: The playback of this song was sung by Aman Trikha and the onscreen performances are by Salman Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, Anupam Kher and Deepraj Rana.
Cultural Influence: This typically filmi song has a Gujarati folk base. The music director Himesh Reshammiya is from Gujarat, India. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
