There are 2 versions of this song – male and female versions. I have chosen the male version.
Movie: This song appeared in 2015 Rajshri Productions’ hit romantic flick Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Found a Treasure Called Love) produced by Ajit Kumar Barjatya, Kamal Kumar Barjatya and Rajkumar Barjatya and directed by Sooraj Barjatiya. The movie starred Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Arman Kohli, Swara Bhaskar, Aashika Bhatia, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, Deepraj Rana, etc.
The movie begins with a Ram Leela performance, when the edge of the sari of the male actor playing Sita (Deepak Dobriyal), unintentionally, flies off. A couple of men in the audience pass derogatory remarks. This is the entry scene of Prem Dilwale (Salman Khan) when he pulls them through the aisle and presents them to the audience. They become very fearful of him. He makes them wear female dresses and makes them regret their behavior. After the performance of the play in the form of a song, Prem receives a lot of small donations from the audience.
The donations have been collected by Prem for the Uphaar Foundation run by Princess Maithili (Sonam Kapoor). Maithili lives in Delhi. But, she is engaged to Prince Vijay Singh (Salman Khan again) of Pritampur. Unknown to most people, Vijay encounters a fatal accident while returning from somewhere. Prem, on the other hand, idolizes Maithili and gets the chance to meet her in person. Prem and his friend Kanhaiya (Deepak Dobriyal) leave for Pritampur since she is expected there. While going to Pritampur, someone on the bus suggests he take a gift for her. He gets down and sings this song while shopping.
Song: The music of this song was scored by Himesh Reshammiya and the lyrics were penned by Irshad Kamil.
The man is in jeopardy as to what gift should he take for his idol.
Video: Cinematography is by V Manikandan. Dance choreography is by Radhika Rao-Vinay Sapru-Ahmad Khan-Mudassar Khan-Shabina Khan.
The video opens with Salman Khan turning around from his bus seat. He gets down from the bus. The song in the chorus has already begun. Deepak Dobriyal looks out of a bus window and is about to call out to his friend. Salman Khan moves looking at the line of sweets in a shop trying to decide what to buy.
When he reaches the plate full of jangry, he imagines that he is giving that plate to Sonam Kapoor and she takes a bite, respectfully. She looks too young in front of Salman Khan. He begins the song. He also begins to dance. Different shots show him with different sweets in his hand. Deepak Dobriyal steals some food after giving a Rs.100 note to the shopkeeper and runs away.
Deepraj Rana, who plays the palace security in-charge Sanjay, arrives at the market in a discreet white car. He buys many medicines from the pharmacy. Salman Khan goes to the fashion accessories market and finds the stuff too expensive. All through the performance, the extra dancers wear different folk dresses from the North India.
Deepak Dobriyal and Salman Khan go to a hair parlor to get themselves a haircut and a shave. A small child sits on the lap of Salman Khan and styles his hair. Thus, ends the song and the video.
Artists: The playback of this song was sung by Shaan and the onscreen performances are by Salman Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, Sonam Kapoor and others.
Cultural Influence: This typically filmi song is a takeoff from the old song Aaj unse pehli mulaqat hogi… from Paraya Dhan (1971). But, the song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
