Movie: This song appeared in 1957 hit family drama Bhabhi (Sister-in-law) directed by Krishnan-Panju and produced by A V Meiyappan under the banner of AVM Productions. The movie starred late Balraj Sahni, late Pandhari Bai, late Nanda, Jagdeep, Bipin Gupta, late Durga Khote, Shyama, etc.

Shanta (Pandhari Bai) is a graduate, but, gets married to a lesser educated widowed businessman Ratanlal (Balraj Sahni). Ratanlal has a son, Mithu from his first marriage, 3 brothers- Ramesh, Rajan and Baldev – and an aunt (Durga Khote). Ratanlal allows his new wife to let her child-widow sister Lata (Nanda) also to live with them. Advocate Motilal (Bipin Gupta) has helped Ratanlal gain name, fame and money in his life since the death of Ratanlal’s father. Ratanlal was not ready to get married. But, he did so when Advocate Motilal insisted.

Soon, Mithu (Daisy Irani) is a school-going boy. Ratanlal’s brother Ramesh (Jawahar Kaul) also passes the law exam and gets a job with Advocate Motilal. The youngest brother of Ratanlal, Baldev or Billu (Jagdeep) is not good at studies. Lata and Mithu keep teasing him. That is the situation in this song as well.

Song: The lyrics of this song were penned by Rajinder Kishen and the music was composed by Chitragupt.

The girl teases, “Wearing a tie can make you look like a hero. But, you are a zero in studies.”

Video: Cinematography is by S Maruti Rao. Dance choreography is by K N Dandayudapani Pillai.

The video opens with Jagdeep sitting on his table at home trying to study and Daisy Irani running away from him. Nanda begins to tease him through this song and also begins to dance. Daisy Irani joins her in the dance. Jagdeep goes to another chair to continue studying. But, she follows him and continues to tease him in the song. Jagdeep looks terribly irritated. He runs to catch her but slips and falls down. She stops singing and runs away. The video ends there.

Artists: The playback of this song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and the onscreen performance is by Nanda.

Cultural Influence: This is a typical filmi song sung by a girl, teasing a boy, who is not good at studies. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
